Applications for the prestigious 2013 Club Marine Australian Marine Industry Export and Superyacht Awards are now open, closing on 1st April and will be announced at the Gala Dinner to be held at Sanctuary Cove on Tuesday 21 May, 2013.

The Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Superyacht Australia continues to maintain active support for the Australian marine export and superyacht industries with a strong focus on ensuring these businesses are recognised for their innovation, excellence, skills and service to the industry.

This year the Awards will be announced for the first time at the Gala Dinner to be held on the first evening of the ASMEX conference, May 21, at Sanctuary Cove’s InterContinental Resort (formerly Hyatt Regency), Queensland.

These awards provide significant additional global profile for award entrants and winners. In 2012 award winners Rivergate Marina & Shipyard secured international business as a result of the profile generated around winning one of the superyacht industry categories.

Andrew Cannon, Rivergate Marina and Shipyard manager commended the awards as an initiative which was highly beneficial for their business and the industry.

'Rivergate was honoured to win the 2012 Superyacht Business of the Year Award – Service Provider. The award has increased Rivergate Marina and Shipyard’s profile and has assisted us in securing significant additional international business. Winning this award is recognition of the high standard of workmanship and service the Rivergate team dedicates to every superyacht that utilises Rivergate for berthing and yard work', Cannon said.

Utilising this opportunity for additional profile is a recommended strategy which should be undertaken as entering these awards can only add value to the business. First, by providing a good analysis of the business and second through the additional publicity being involved with the awards generates.

VEEM Propellers General Manager Les Kay commented on the significance of winning the Exporter of the Year award in 2012 stating that 'Winning the Exporter of the Year award further assisted in establishing the VEEM brand as a high quality product on a global scale. This recognition acknowledges that our focus on premium quality product using high technology production was a correct manufacturing strategy.'

Other winners included Aqualuma Marine Lighting, M-Tech, Sailfish Catamarans and FinScan, Aurora Global Logistics, Muirs and Barry Jenkins who was awarded the individual award for the marine export and superyacht industry champion.

The judges announced for 2013 are Barry Jenkins - a well known marine industry personality, Ian Murray - CEO of the Export Council of Australia, Ken Evans – previously Mercury Marine and currently working in the industry as a consultant, Dugald Anthony a senior representative from Austrade who has considerable experience and understanding of the marine sector and John Savage of J.J Savage & Sons.

Judging will be conducted across the following categories:
