Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac 2011 update

by Greg Freeman on 21 Feb 2011
Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac 2011 .. .
Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac 2011 - There are 164, 165, 166 entries in the race, and going up every day. As expected, interest in the 2011 Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, Presented by Veuve Clicquot is very high. We’re getting more and more entries every day. This coming weekend we’ll start inviting 'newbies' – those that are first time competitors or are returning after a long absence. With over 50 boats in this queue, we expect our numbers to jump dramatically.

If you have received an automatic invitation I encourage you to enter the race now. Nothing is worse than seeing the boat leave the dock without you. (Don’t forget, you need to enter the race and pay the entry fee to be officially in the race.)

I also want to alert you to a very special deal – once again this year, we have been able to secure a special room rate for Mac sailors at Grand Hotel. With so many of our race activities centered there – the Grand Porch Party, special activities for the kids, the Sailors’ Celebration on Tuesday, what better place to stay? The rate is $299.00 per night. (Plus tax and tips)

It provides for up to four to a room and includes a fabulous breakfast. There is no minimum number of nights required at Grand Hotel and rooms that are paid in advance will be held regardless of when you arrive. Consider staying at Grand Hotel. It’s a great place.
