Chaparral Australia takes out International Dealer of the Year Chaparral Australia
Chaparral Australia has taken out the coveted International Dealer of the Year award at the 49th annual dealer conference and awards ceremony for the third year in a row.

Over 280 dealers from the US and around the world attended the gala event in Key Largo, Florida where dealers are recognised for sales and customer service over the 2012/13 model year.

'We knew we were in the running again; but to achieve number one for the third year straight was a real honour and testament to the hard work of our entire network.

'The support we have had from the local media has also been a major factor in our rise to prominence. Also, traditionally the winner of the international dealer award has not only had the best sales results, but also has provided high levels of customer service and demonstrated a commitment to the industry and the brand as a whole,' says Scott O’Hare from Chaparral Australia.

'This award reflects our current position in the Australian market,' says O’Hare. 'We have worked tirelessly to gain market share, creating a strong marketing presence via media, boat shows and through our network. We work hard at keeping our customers informed and always put our best foot forward' he said; 'Of course the boats themselves are the real hero’s, with such a brilliant selection of boats now numbering 47 models across the entire range, Chaparral have given us plenty to work with.'

Chaparral Australia have a complete dealer network servicing Australia and offer boats ranging from the entry level 18 foot H2o ski/fish and sport bowriders to SSi premium bowriders, saltwater wake boats, cuddy’s, high performance sports cruisers and the flagship 42 Premiere sports yacht. The Robalo fishing boat range recently launched in Australia are also available through an Australia wide network.

With 49 years of boat building experience under the same management team, Chaparral have undertaken a huge R&D program releasing over 35 new boats in the last four years. They now hold the number one market share position in a number of segments and are in the top three world’s biggest boat builders.

'There are so many exciting developments on the horizon,' says O’Hare. 'We are entering the jet boat market; we expect to see new sport cabin models, cruiser designs and Robalo fishing boats coming through soon and with the new 21 H2o models and 307SSx just released, Chaparral's 50th year could be a good one for us.'

A Q&A with Ed Furry about Sail22 and regatta support
I talked with Ed Furry to learn more about Sail22, the sailing concierge business that he runs with his wife, Becky. I first crossed tacks with Ed Furry at the 2008 Antigua Race Week, and it was instantly obvious that the guy loves sailing, sailing culture and the opportunity to help his fellow sailors become faster. So, I wasn’t surprised to start seeing him at a variety of regattas and industry events with his Sail22 sailing concierge business. I caught up with him at the 2016 J/70 Worlds to learn more.
