Momentum is continuing to build in the lead up the 'Champagne Start of the Summer Season of Racing'. The Season kicks off with the premier yacht-racing event 'Sydney’s Short Ocean Racing Championship'.
The Championship is dubbed the 'form guide' for the Summer Season primarily the Rolex Sydney Hobart and Pittwater Coffs Series and offers serious campaigners the first opportunity to bench mark their performance against a host of famous yachts.
Raced just offshore of Sydney Heads, early season sea breeze patterns, southerly changes, coastal currents, and deep water mean that the teams can assess their speed, tactics and crew preparation. In addition evaluating rating configuration leaves owners just enough time to optimise for the season to follow.
The Regatta offers a variety of course structures, including a harbour start and finish for those competing in the IRC/PHS Ocean Passage Series, consisting of 1 race per day, and the IRC Grand Prix Series windward leewards racing off Sydney Heads, consisting of 6 races over 2 days.
The Farr 40 One Design Class have scheduled the Championship as a key event in their 2010/2011 Circuit in the lead up to the Farr 40 World Titles
