The CYCA Associates Parade of Sail, Sunday September 12th, 2010.

They were the showstoppers of a different era - elegant yachts that turned heads as they glided past on Sydney Harbour.

On Sunday these grand dames of Australian sailing, many as beautiful as the day they were launched, will make a spectacular return to the harbour for the annual Cruising Yacht Club of Australia's Associates Parade of Sail and Blessing of the Fleet.

And spectators will be able to watch from both the land and the water as these lovely ladies sail past in all their finery, strutting their stuff on one of the most stunning waterways in the world.

The Parade of Sail, being held in conjunction with the CYCA Members Open Day, is an event not to be missed as these classics, all built or designed prior to 1975, rekindle memories of the past.

The famous 73-foot Edwardian schooner Boomerang will officiate at the Parade of Sail and Blessing of the Fleet with the 106-year-old Sydney Heritage Fleet yacht hosting CYCA Commodore Gary Linnacre , who will take the salute, and a Royal Australian Navy Chaplain, who will bless the fleet.

At 10.30am boats will assemble at Blackburn Cove, Double Bay, for the Blessing of the Fleet which will be broadcast on VHF channel 72.

At 10.50am the cannon will be fired to commence the Review Salute and Sail Past.

Boats will be judged on the water for the Ship Shape & Bristol Fashion Award with a Best Dressed Crew Award for all boats, including spectators.

The fleet will then sail/motor round Fort Denison before returning to the CYCA for a trophy presentation in the Freya Room at 2.00pm.
