Boaters prohibited on Richmond River this weekend

The Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) is temporarily prohibiting boaters to navigate a certain area on the Richmond River for the staging of a waterski racing event this coming weekend, for which an exclusive use aquatic licence has been issued.
Maritime North Coast Regional Manager James Green said boaters should keep clear of the river from the downstream side of the Woodburn Road Bridge towards Wardell to about 400 metres upstream from the Pacific Highway road bridge from 11am to 5pm Saturday and from 8am to 2pm Sunday.
'This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of the Bridge to Bridge ski race organised by Tweed River Water Ski Club,' Mr Green said.
'The area will be marked by buoys.
'For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be restricted for the event and patrolled by club and control vessels,' Mr Green said.
Mr Green said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police RMS NSW website
