Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) has granted an exclusive use aquatic licence for the safe staging of ski races on Richmond River this weekend.
RMS Maritime Principal Manager North Sonia McKay said boaters should keep clear of the Richmond River on Saturday from midday to 5pm and on Sunday from 8am to 1pm.
Ms McKay said boaters should keep clear of the river from the Coraki boat ramp downstream about 18 nautical miles to the Woodburn Road Bridge.
'This area will be used exclusively for the safe staging of a ski race organised by Tweed River Water Ski Club,' Ms McKay said.
'The area will be marked by buoys and monitored by control vessels.
'For safety reasons, skippers should avoid this area as it will be closed for the event.
Ms McKay said vessels would not be permitted to enter the exclusive use area unless authorised by a boating safety officer or a police
