For the 2015 Bell's Bayview Mackinac Race the Safety Requirements and Recommendations (SRR) are now published. They can be found here for monohulls and here for multihulls.
New for 2015:
• Crew members on boats less than 30' which do not fully satisfy the Lifeline requirements will be required to tether to the boat at all times while not in cabin. (think Melges 24, Cal 25)
• All PFDs shall be equipped with a whistle and waterproof light. (In addition to marine-grade retro-reflective material and being marked with the name of the boat-wearer)
• Permanently installed VHF radios shall have masthead mounted antenna of at least 15' in length, a co-axial feeder cable with no less than 50% power loss, shall be DSC capable, be connected to or have internal GPS and have the MMSI number (unique to the boat) programmed into the VHF.

On Saturday, March 21, Bayview will be hosting Mark Thornton for his presentation and seminar 'Preparing Your Mac Forecast: A Workshop For Sailors.' You may recall Mark hosted a weather seminar at Bayview last year as well as last year's pre-race weather briefing in Port Huron. New for 2015, Mark's seminar will focus entirely on forecasting for the Bell's Bayview Mackinac Race.
Mark's seminars are user friendly, informative, and extremely detailed. Anyone who is serious about wanting to win the Mackinac Race will not want to miss out.
