Bay of Islands Sailing Week January 19-22, 2010 ENTER NOW ON LINE It’s getting c-l-o-s-e-r. Festive Season first – Bay of Islands Sailing Week second. Entries are already on our website. Air Calin has forwarded copies of their Gourmet Guide for New Zealand Travellers 'Taste – New Caledonia' - yummy french recipes for the first two entries. Jim Farmer’s new Georgia IRC 52 was the first – which is where he wants to stay throughout the Regatta… Said Jim 'I have sailed at the Bay of Islands Regatta on a regular basis, first in the Farr 53 Georgia and then in the Farr 43 Georgia One. 2010 Bay of Islands Sailing Week will be the first major regatta for our new Georgia IRC 52 – See you there' Stop Press: A Refund of Entry Fee, for entry ? (The specific number held in a plain brown envelope at headquarters). We will print the name of the boat in our December Regatta Ramblings. This is literally ‘the luck of the draw’. The lucky boat could be YOU - better odds than a $100 win at lotto. Limit – an Aussie 63 foot Reichel Pugh has entered. Limit raced at Hamo with seven top NZ yachties on board. ***With so many Kiwis, the Aussies will have ‘inside information’ about our courses in the Bay. Could be interesting*** AND…two avid Catamaran Racers will be here from Darwin looking for crew positions on Cats. Any ideas or suggestions?? Bill and Kim Jelley sell aboriginal art and craft in their store and have offered a ‘prize from Oz’. Now that’s different, and certainly appreciated. If we get enough Aussies over here – someone will have to learn how to (play – use??) a didgeridoo... Romeyn Woodcrafts are again sponsoring the Bay of Islands Sailing Week with prizes of quality and style, handcrafted from rimu; a vey special memory of the Racing Week to look good on the mantelpiece shelf at home. Supporters – Families, there’s tons to do in the Bay of Islands while the ‘dedicated yachties’ are out there facing their competitors and the elements. There will be a Suggestion List on the Notice Board at North Sails Tent, but a few to mention: Dolphin Cruises – Scenic Flights and Helicopter Rides – Day Cruises - Power Boat Adventures – Eco Tours to wineries, sub tropical gardens etc – Mini Tours of Russell – Action World – Tour buses both North and South – Culture Options – Action World – Girl ‘stuff.’ See for yourself. www.northlandnz.com And more of our fantastic sponsors: · Harken: A wide range of quality marine equipment and products for performance and cruising boats. www.harken.co.nz · PIC Marine Insurance: utilizes all leading insurers in the NZ Market, also with direct access to offshore insurers. www.pic.co.nz · VERO: Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance, Liability, Marine & Accident Insurance Companies are known as VERO, a member of the Promina Group. www.vero.co.nz · Luvmyboat.com: An international website ‘all about boats’.
