BRIG world launch unleashes the Eagle 780

One of the stars of the Sydney International Boat Shows - both for performance and presence - was without a doubt the new Brig Eagle 780, making its global debut downunder, complete with founder and MD Slava Rodionov from the Ukraine.

The Eagle 780 is the largest Brig inflatable boat ever built and from a visitor's vantage point, too large to fit in a standard photograph!

'Brig has spent two years developing this model,' says Dylan Lopez, director for Sirocco Marine North, the Australian distributor. 'It's the product of the technial and engineering minds who worked on the Soviet Space Program, so it's sturdy, high-tech and really flies.'

The luxury RIB can be used as a day boat or tender. At 7.8m (26 feet) long and 2.95metres, you can fit everything you need for a day of fun. It has a walk in console with enough room for a fridge, and also comes with room for a toilet in the centre console, unique in the RIB market.

The Eagle 780 is ultra stable, handles beautifully, is capable of taking you places in comfort and at significant speed.

It’s rated for engines up to 300hp so performance is phenomenal and according to Lopez, 'there is no splash at all'.

'You stay dry on this and it's very, very stable. There’s also a self launching anchor system.'

Made of hypalon in its distinctive white and grey, the Eagle boasts a body that is UV resistant and will put up with the harshest of elements. Brig builds boats for the military so its pedigree is unparalleled.

'Last year, Brig built 44,000 boats so they are doing something right. They are a common sight on the Med and along the Riviera for going out diving, just getting around, as tenders or just having fun,' says Lopez.

On his third trip to Australia, MD Slava Rodionov was glad of the respite from the extreme heat in northern Europe. 'The Ukraine is suffering severe hot weather,' he reports. 'This cool weather in Sydney is a relief.'

His initial observations of the Sydney International Boat Show were that it is extremely well organised and popular with boaties and families. 'Darling Harbour is one of the best venues I have seen,' he says.

With ceiling to floor branding and the Eagle 780 up on a pedestal, you can't miss the highly prominent display, stand number 503, at this year's Sydney International Boat Show.
