Autumn Invitational starts tomorrow

CMRC / CYC Autumn Invitational 2016 Chicago Match Race Center
Eight teams will compete this weekend in the Autumn Invitational, the final event of the Chicago match racing season. The mostly Chicago-based field of teams will sail in Chicago Yacht Club's fleet of Sonars.

Six out of the eight teams competing are regular CMRC or CYC members, and some even started match racing this year. 'The strong local participation at this event is a testament to the success of the 'CMRC @ CYC' partnership. We have a lot of new match racing fans here in Chicago!' said Maggie Shea, CMRC Sailing Director.

Peter Holz's Windy City Match Race Team and Steve Lowery's Shadow Racing Team will be the two teams to keep an eye on this event. They've gone head-to-head dozens of times before, and even though Lowery has more wins on the scoreboard this year and more time in the Sonars, Holz could still give him a run for his money. The roster this weekend includes (in ranking order): Peter Holz, Steve Lowery, Andy Camarda, Mark Johnson, James Wagner, Mark Croll, Jovan Brankov, and Ray Groble.

Racing starts tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM CDT with a Round Robin, then knock-out rounds will follow on Sunday. After Saturday's racing, the Chicago Yacht Club's 'Women on Water' group will join the racers for a Pro-Am regatta.
