Autosport International Show - Powerboat GP heads to Birmingham

by Nikki Drummond on 7 Jan 2013
. .
Autosport International Show is being held at Birmingham NEC from 10th to 13th January 2013. Powerboat GP, the organisers of the RYA Circuit Powerboat Racing British Championship, this year will head to the show in a bid to attract new Motorsport enthusiasts to the sport.

Autosport International 2012 attracted just over 81,000 visitors which included 28,600 trade visitors on the first two press and trade days.

The show takes place over four days and consists of two trade days followed by two weekend public days and caters for all areas of motorsport from karting to World Rallying to Formula One, and from the club racer to professional organisations.

Major team launches, international drivers, the very latest products, a live indoor motorsport arena, F1 Racing display, and Autosport’s central stage, create a unique showcase event that offers an exciting and wide range of sales opportunities and engagement with prospective customers.

Visitors to the show will be able to get up close and personal with some of the boats and to find out what the sport’s all about with current racers, organisers and officials on hand to answer any questions.

Jason Brewer of Powerboat GP explained why they’ve decided to change track and steer away from the London Boat Show to attract new people to the sport 'Powerboat Racers are normally unique individuals but in essence we’re all adrenaline fuelled motorsport fanatics. Where the Boat show attracts sailors, motorcruisers and casual boat users we’re looking for the people that live for the roar of the engine and the smell of petrol.'

He continued 'In the past Powerboat Racing companies that have exhibited at the show have seen a mutual connection and positive interest in the sport which is what we’re looking for to raise the sports profile.'

For the 23rd year running, this annual pre-season Motorsport Event will be held again at the NEC, Birmingham from the 10th to 13th January, 2013. Covering over 1 million ft², Autosport International is widely regarded as Europe’s largest trade-only motorsport exhibition.

The Powerboat GP stand can be found just a short distance from the Autosport Stage at Stand 2460.

In and of itself it is hardly the freshest news, and well and truly yesterday’s fish wrapper. It was also a wise choice on behalf of Team USA, for he has succeeded in both the physical and commercial arms of our sport.
