Australian Youth Championship – Notice of Race available online

OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship 2012 is being held at the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron between 6th and 10th January. The competition is open to sailors who will be under 19 years of age at 31 December 2012. The Notice of Race has been released by Yachting Australia.

Racing will take place in 13 events across six classes of boat with the Laser Radial, Laser 4.7, Techno 293, 420, 29er and Hobie 16 all set to hit the water in Queensland.

The Laser Radial, Laser 4.7 and Techno 293 will feature racing in boys and girls classes, with the 420 and 29er including boys, girls and open, while the Hobie 16 will be an open class.

Entries are now being accepted through the website, with entries open until Friday 9 December 2011.

Off water activities will include an opening ceremony on Friday 6 January and a presentation ceremony on Tuesday 10 January.

The event continues to grow each year with 163 crews competing in the 2011 event which was held in Sydney last January.

The OAMPS Insurance Brokers Australian Youth Championship is an important event for Australia’s up-and-coming youth sailors with the event a part of the selection process for the Australian team to compete at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship.
