Australian Match Racing Championships day 1 - CYCA undefeated

Australian Open and Women's Match Racing Championships are being hosted by Southport Yacht Club. The CYCA team of Ashlen Rooklyn, Byron White, Tim Austin and Ezra Pritchard have finished day one undefeated. Rooklyn and his team put in strong races and good team work, to hold a two point lead into tomorrows races.

The Gold Coast turned out a great day of racing with a five knot northerly building to 10 to 12 knots from the north east by days end. Racing today was a challenge with the tide testing all teams and the Southport Yacht Club teams are close behind in the battle for the title showing good form in they home waters.

SYC's Jack Sherring, Coen Comadira, William Bates and Fletcher Sewell hold on to second on count back from Sophie Lahey (SYC), who is fighting for the title of Women's Australian Match Racing Champions.

Racing continues tomorrow with Finals to be completed by Friday 14th October.

Even the rippling laughter of the wake down the side of the hull has dulled as Foresight Natural Energy lethargically crawls across the dark disk of the horizon. The bright orange jib is the only flash of colour in a quiet world where a dull lead coloured sea lolls under a pewter sky.
