James Burman (NSW), Alexandra South (NSW) and Tristan Brown (WA) won team racing silver for Australia at the 2011 World University Summer Games in Shenzhen, China.

There were five sailors representing team Australia at the games. Australia also took part in laser, radial and 470 fleet racing events. Tara McCall (NSW) and Aurora Patterson ( NSW) paired up for the first time in the 470 class for these World Summer games. It is encouraging to see Olympic sailing classes being embraced at the World University Games. This exciting addition to the games in the future will give more young Australian sailors a platform to showcase their talent at a world stage.

James and Tristan had also recently finished second and fourth at the 2011 Laser Radial World Championships in La Rochelle, France.

James and Alexandra have also been selected to represent Australia at the Perth 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships in the Olympic laser and radial classes. This will also be the first round country qualifiers for the 2012 Olympic games.
