The advantage to a boat using an adjustable rudder elevator is that it gives her two means of controlling her foiling – through the adjustable daggerboard case, which only Emirates Team NZ and Luna Rossa initially fitted, and with a second adjustment on her rudder elevator.

As the situation stands, the two sailing Challengers have little scope to fit Rudder Elevators, as they are due to start racing in 10 days, while the Defender still has two months to continue and refine development.

Before the end of the week, one of the parties is expected to refer the matter to the International Jury for a binding resolution. The intention to take the matter straight to the NY Supreme Court is believed to be on hold.

Australia´s Tackers program is proving to be a brilliant success, today we provide some cameos on what it’s achieving. For example MHYC Membership junior membership has quadruple as a results of Tackers. The NSW flag-ship Tackers Centre, Middle Harbour Yacht Club is a thrilling hub for junior sailing thanks to the efforts of the dedicated Tackers Centre team led by Manager of Marine Operations, Alister Copley. With the support of the Club Committee, Alister introduced Tackers to the club four years ago and has developed a structured Pathway from Tackers through to Green Fleet. The family-focused club now has 450 junior members and credit much of the growth in membership to the Tackers program.

Races, Regattas and Disruptive Technology
x In the olden days, the major cost of attending a regatta for yacht owners and crew was the accommodation and still is. Of course for cruising yachties, traditionally the crew stays on boat, during regatta week, because after all it is replete with dishwasher, washing machine, a good cellar and an oven in which you could cook a roast. For racing boat owners or dinghy owners, life was not so easy.

World Sailing Cup - Ahead a Dead Rat in a Shoe v3 or Spring Daffodils
While a host of major sailing events go from strength to strength, the Sailing World Cup has very major issues. Last night my Irish better half was sitting beside me on the sofa watching an Australian version of the popular TV Cooking Program My Kitchen Rules on a tablet with her headphone while I was watching Diehard II for the seventeenth time (it’s a boy thing) on TV. She suddenly spluttered and laughed, took off her headphones and motioned for me to mute Diehard. (Seriously!!)
