Aussie sailing patron Dame Elisabeth Murdoch passes at age 103

The Australian Sailing Team extended condolences to the Murdoch family after philanthropist and former patron Dame Elisabeth Murdoch passed away.
Dame Elisabeth had been a Patron of the Australian Sailing Team for a number of years and was renowned for her philanthropic work and contribution to numerous charities across the country.
The Murdoch family is well represented in the Australian Sailing Team’s Patrons group, with Dame Elisabeth’s son-in-law John Calvert-Jones the group’s Chairman and grandson Lachlan Murdoch a patron.
Australian Sailing Performance Director Peter Conde paid tribute to the contribution that Dame Elisabeth has made to countless groups in Australia.
'Dame Elisabeth’s charitable nature was well known and she has touched thousands of people with her generosity,' said Conde. 'The Australian Sailing Team would like to thank John Calvert-Jones for introducing Dame Elisabeth to our Patrons group and for the contribution she made to our team and its successes.
'All of our athletes, coaches and staff pass on their condolences to the Murdoch family. She was a truly amazing person and we are privileged to have had her associated with our team,' he said.
The Australian Sailing Team Patrons are a group of high achieving individuals with a passion and commitment to sailing and competition. The Patrons financially support and interact with Australian Sailing Team athletes and were a part of their campaign at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
