Publisher Arthaud, a subsidiary of Flammarion, specializing in tales of adventure and travel, is preparing a reference book on the epic of the flying trimaran Hydroptere. After having related the most beautiful pages of the French sailing history, from Éric Tabarly to Florence Arthaud through Moitessier, the publisher enters the world of the 'flying boat' a few months before her next record attempt.
This summer, Hydroptere will try to beat the Transpacific record between Los Angeles and Hawaii. It will be an historical attempt as it will be the first ocean crossing for a sailboat sailing 100% on foils, kinds of marine wings inspired by the principle of lift for aircrafts.
This prestigious edition (192 pages, 200 illustrations, format 30x30 with a fold-central section) will aim to celebrate an adventure and an exceptional boat. The publication in French and English is planned for this autumn. A German version is also under consideration.
