Nearly 450 sailors participate from tomorrow morning until Sunday at the Arenal Training Camps Trophy, an Olympic classes regatta which is a training pre-event ahead of the the Trofeo Princesa Sofía, the next to last stage of the ISAF Sailing World Cup. The new record number of sailors in the regatta, in its eighth edition, means the consolidation of Club Nàutic Arenal and the bay of Palma de Mallorca as winter training venue for the Olympic teams of about thirty nations.

The ten Olympic Classes are present at Club Nàutic S’Arenal regatta providing a stunning entry list at the Arenal Training Camps Trophy with Olympic medallists and World and European champions, aware that Rio 2016 is around the corner. Over 250 boats will line up at the race start -around one hundred more than the most attended edition up to now-.

British sailors Luke Patience and Elliot Willis and US team Stuart Mcnay and David Hughes (470 M); British sailors Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark and French team Camille Lecointre and Helene Defrance (470 W; Dutch sailor Marit Bouwmeester (Laser Radial); Italian competitor Giovanni Coccoluto (Laser Standard); Danish team Jonas Warrer and Peter Lang (49er); Brazilian sailors Martine Soffiatti Grael and Kahena Kunze and Spanish sailors Támara Echegoyen and Berta Betanzos (49er FX); Italian team Vittorio Bissaro y Silvia Sucouri and Spanish sailors Iker Martínez and Tara Pacheco (Nacra 17), and French sailor Jonathan Lobert and Gasper Vincec from Slovenia (Finn), are some of the big names of the sailing world that take part in the Club Nàutic Arenal regatta.

There are nine races scheduled -three per day (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) - at the Arenal Training Camps Trophy. The first warning signal is scheduled tomorrow at 13h in the bay of Palma with a forecast of North winds, land winds, shifty and changeable. The thermic wind Embat is forecasted for the weekend.

On Saturday morning, Club Nàutic S’Arenal will organise a breakfast for all coaches, an opportunity to get feedback on the development of the Arenal Training Camps. The prize giving ceremony is scheduled on Sunday at 18h.
