Another stunning creation from Trinity Yachts

I’ve been fortunate enough to board a couple of vessels built by America’s custom operation, Trinity Yachts, based on the Gulf coast, not far from New Orleans.

In every case, I’ve been ‘knocked out’ by the fabulous designs and remarkable interiors of this fabulous marque.


Recently, the company’s marketing ace Amy Halsted forwarded me some outstanding images and the details on the company’s newest build, the fantastic tri-deck motor yacht ‘Carpe Diem’.

For those who like to know such things, ‘Carpe Diem’ is a Latin term, usually translated to mean either ‘seize the day or enjoy the day’.

Tell you what, if you were the very fortunate (and wealthy!) owner of Trinity Yachts’ ‘Carpe Diem’ you would not only enjoy the day, you’d seize anything you want!


This truly magnificent craft is a massive 58.23-metres (191-feet) overall with a 10.0-metre (33-feet) beam.

Of all aluminium construction, ‘Carpe Diem’ boasts a top speed in excess of 20 knots, thanks to a pair of Caterpillar Marine Diesels from the company’s 3516 series of engines rated at 3384hp at 1800rpm.

Needless to say, her astonishing engine room has it all, Northern Lights generators, hydraulic bow thrusters, stabilisers and excellent tankage.

You would not wish to be behind ‘Carpe Diem’ in a line at the fuel pump; she carries 87,784-litres of fuel (23,190 US gallons).

Fresh water capacity is 14,271-litres (3770 US gallons), a holding tank of 1514-litres (400 US gallons) and grey water tankage for wash downs etc of 9573-litres (2529 US gallons).

Her fuel capacity gives ‘Carpe Diem’ a cruising range of 4360 nautical miles at 10 knots (with a 10 percent fuel reserve).

Designed ‘in-house’ by Trinity Yachts naval architects, ‘Carpe Diem’ is said to be 'the embodiment of both flexibility and ability to access exotic destinations.'

Her 2.43-metre (8-feet) draft allows her to access shallow waters more readily than many vessels of similar size and displacement.


Nothing has been overlooked in the creation of this amazing vessel, from her impeccable interior to an enormous sky lounge, massive swim platform and customised tenders for enjoyment in all locations.

‘Carpe Diem’ features a main deck with a full beam master suite to die for; it includes walk-in closet, sofa and armchairs, en-suite, his and her showers and a Jacuzzi.

Wouldn’t expect anything less, would you?

There’s also another full beam suite for VIP guests and a further four gorgeous staterooms for additional guests.

Cleverly, the two forward guest staterooms are easily turned into a single king VIP suite or if used as twins, one can convert to become a gymnasium.

A private crew stairway provides access for the crew to the galley and the pilothouse level.

With a ‘dumbwaiter’, pantry and galley designed specifically for ease of use by the crew, the owner and guests aboard ‘Carpe Diem’ can expect impeccable service.

The magnificent interior of ‘Carpe Diem’ was designed by Carol Williamson and Associates and to describe the task this company carried out as absolutely first class would be an understatement.

Hand-wrought hardwoods, and stylish accents abound and it has been said ‘Carpe Diem’ 'fully incorporates the careful play of architecture, light and complex sophisticated colour' Carol Williamson is recognised for.

This stunning vessel’s living spaces are enormous, comprising a magnificent main salon, expensive dining salon, a main aft deck complete with wet bar and air conditioning, a dual staircase to access the extended swim platform aft – which even includes modular furniture –and a full-width sky lounge, upper aft deck, Portuguese bridge and sundeck.


That’s not all; ‘Carpe Diem’ has all teak decks, marine grade stainless steel fittings throughout while alfresco relaxation and dining spaces are paired superbly with an interior colour scheme perfectly complemented with striking black and white photography and priceless art.

‘Carpe Diem’ is fully equipped, too, for day excursions, even elaborate beach parties; it even boasts a tent with draw curtains for setting up a headquarters for a gala beach affair.

Custom tenders, four Yamaha Waverunners, a variety of scuba equipment and two concealed life rafts above her sundeck are among the vessel’s standard gear.

For those aboard who appreciate the latest technology, ‘Carpe Diem’ has all the most relevant products available, including Kaleidoscope, WiFi, iPod docking and multi-system surround sound throughout.

‘Carpe Diem’ accommodates an owner’s party of 12 in her six staterooms and 12 crew members in six cabins.

Although established quite recently (1988), Trinity Yachts has historical roots dating back to the famous Higgins Shipyard, builder of the legendary landing craft used by the United States Marine Corps during the ‘island hopping’ campaigns of World War II.

The company has earned a reputation as a world-renowned builder of custom superyachts in both steel and aluminium up to 123.0-metres (400-feet).
