Chicago Yacht Club Foundation announced that it will host the Annual Mackinac and Offshore Awards Dinner on November 1, 2008 in the Regency Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Chicago.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization dedicated to promoting junior sailing and appreciation of the nautical arts and traditions in the Chicagoland community. Dinner tickets are $85 per person inclusive, and all proceeds will benefit the Foundation.
During the dinner, section and divisional winners of the 100th Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, presented by Lands' End Business Outfitters, will receive their Race trophies. In addition, dinner guests will see a special 'director's cut' of ESPN Classic's documentary 'The 100th Race to Mackinac,' presented by Rolex Watch USA and produced by Gary Jobson. Jobson is a highly decorated racing sailor and the world's leading sailing television journalist.
'The Chicago Yacht Club Foundation looks forward to welcoming skippers, crews, and friends to Chicago this fall. We are delighted to be part of this special evening.' Gibby Vartan, President of the Chicago Yacht Club Foundation, remarked.
'This will truly be a 'once in a lifetime' event,' Greg Miarecki, chairman of Chicago Yacht Club's Mackinac Committee remarked. 'We will, of course, recognize the winners of the 100th Race. In addition, our guests will enjoy the first glimpse of Gary Jobson's latest masterpiece. Gary has really captured the essence of the Race with his work, and we are looking forward to seeing it during this special event,' Miarecki added.
'My goal was to show viewers what it is like to race the Mac from the perspective of a wide range of boats. We focus on 11 boats in the director's cut edition. I hope many sailors are inspired to race the Mac in future years after watching this film,' Jobson explained.
Tickets to the dinner may be purchased through the Chicago Yacht Club's Front Desk at 312-861-7777. Chicago Yacht Club members may use their member accounts to purchase tickets. Non-members may purchase tickets using Visa or MasterCard. Due to the popularity of this event, space is limited, so sailors and friends are encourage making reservations as soon as possible.
