She reports in from Qingdao, China ahead of Act 3 of the Extreme Sailing Series, after an eventful flight:
April 30, 2014
It was rather a long trip over here, but I landed in Qingdao, China last night just before 8pm. We, Team Alinghi and I, are here for Act 3 of the Extreme Sailing Series, and racing starts tomorrow.
The flight over was a bit long, but not too stressful thankfully. However, at the beginning of the flight, the flight attendants had to kick someone off the plane. Then, as we landed, the flight attendants announced over the PA that someone in row 40 was having a seizure and if there was a doctor or medical person onboard to go back and help, which I'm guessing turned out alright.
After a quick shower and dinner last night, it was off to bed. Although it wasn't the best of night's sleep considering the 12 hour time change, it was enough to get me through today and make me want to fall asleep very soon!
Today was practice day for the teams. We had a couple hours in the morning and then some practice races in the afternoon. It was a good day to blow away the cobwebs, and we are feeling good and fast heading into tomorrow's racing.
The food situation here isn't the easiest, but we are making it work. Thankfully there is a grocery store 200m from the hotel at the venue so everything is super convenient.
I apologize for this being short and it probably doesn't make much sense. I'm literally falling asleep as I type. I will have a more detailed blog tomorrow after racing!
