At the Auckland International Boat Show, Sail-World ran all the video we had of the 33rd America's Cup. One 20 minute section of the start of Race 1 was guaranteed to stop the crowds and pack them around the big screen.
Having been on the water, and later seen the broadcast, we don't believe that the broadcast did justice to that opening stanza of the 33rd America's Cup. However Sailing Anarchy had their camera shooting over our shoulder at the Committee Boat end of the start line and have caught the action perfectly.
This is real take you breath away footage, which gave everyone their first taste of what the 33rd America's Cup was going to be like.
And yes, that's yours truly in the red Sail-World jacket on the ETNZ boat. And, it might look like a summer's day - it was a very cold 4-5 degrees, but the action was superhot!
Best viewed in full screen mode!
(And, if some are a little slow to load, just let it load and then replay and the video will run at normal speed.)
