Emirates Team NZ capsized their AC45 during the match racing in Newport, after a gennaker sheet jammed during a bearaway, and the catamaran became overpowered and flipped.

Normally that would not have been a major issue, but the top section extension filled with water and pulled the boat over backwards.

Recovery took over an hour, and the wingsail damage was substantial, over what should have been a relatively simple righting exercise in flat water, with minimal or no damage.
