Artemis Racing has now announced that Charlie Ekberg will join Artemis Racing White during the America’s Cup World Series (ACWS) April 16-21 in Naples, Italy. The move marks Artemis Racing’s investment in the next generation of America’s Cup sailors and Swedish youth sailing. Charlie is one of Sweden’s leading 49er helmsman.

'It’s an opportunity of a lifetime to sail with Artemis Racing. I’ve learned so much from training with the team on San Francisco Bay and I’m excited to represent Artemis Racing in Naples,' said Charlie Ekberg.

The line-up for Artemis Racing includes Charlie Ekberg (SWE) as helmsman, Troy Tindill as wingman, Matt Cornwell as bowman, Peter Merrington as floater, Anthony Nossiter as trimmer, and Niclas During (seen above on the right) as a backup.

Niclas was the crew on Sweden’s 49er team at the London Olympics and is confirmed as wingman for the Swedish Youth RBYAC team alongside Charlie who will helm. Ekberg and During will be part of the Swedish Red Bull Youth America’s Cup team competing in San Francisco later this summer.

'Naples is the perfect opportunity for Charlie to prepare for the RBYAC alongside ACWS veterans Troy, Matt, Peter and Anthony and this allows the team in Alameda to focus on preparing for the upcoming Louis Vuitton Cup,' said Artemis Racing CEO Paul Cayard.

The Swedish Youth Challenge for the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup team, led by KSSS Coach Bjorn Johansson, will be hosting three training sessions from last November until the end of April. Training and tryouts started in November with 70 applicants. For updates on their progress check out their Facebook page, Swedish Youth Challenge.

Naples will be the final event in the 2012-13 America’s Cup World Series before the 34th America’s Cup kicks off on San Francisco Bay this summer.
