34th America's Cup Day Six, Race 9. Another ebb tide, was running at almost two knots in the pre-start.

Wind against tide conditions. With the upwind speed now seemingly closer, the starts become more important than ever.

Oracle Team USA is first into the box. Protecting the leeward end of the line, they dominated the start. Two lengths ahead at the start.

Four seconds ahead at the first mark. Down the run, Emirates was 110 metres behind.

Oracle went right, 18 seconds ahead. the Kiwis went left.

Oracle was incredibly extending on the first cross, they were three hundred metres ahead soon after and they were still gaining on the right.

A dominant upwind leg for the Americans. Their tacking is much improved

The Kiwis were 33 seconds behind as the Oracle team charged down the course more than 700 metre ahead of their rivals.

An excellent tactical race from the Americans.

The crowd noise level was rising as Oracle Team USA took an impressive 47 second victory.

High Fives on the US boat.

Dean Barker: 'They’re going well. They’ve stepped up. We always expected they would. It’s hard racing… We didn’t get off the start line as we would have liked… We’ll look to do a much better job in the next race this afternoon.

'We felt like we were going just fine. I think they made a nice gain at the bottom gate. It was always going to be hard… they’ve found another gear in these conditions.

'We know this is going to be a battle, we’ve been saying this from the start… We know we have to keep pushing hard.'

Jimmy Spithill: 'What a fantastic effort by the boys. They really, really dug in. It was a physical race. Last night we tuned up the software for the pre-start and we had a great game plan for the start today. Full credit to coach Philippe Presti…'
