Emirates Team New Zealand’s AC72 was back on San Francisco Bay today after four days in the shed for modifications.

This time some of the modifications were clearly visible to spectators afloat and ashore. Fairings had been attached to the bowsprit and additions made to the aft beam.
Luna Rossa joined the team on the water for some practice drills – starts, mark roundings and overtaking manoeuvres. The Italian syndicate is helping Emirates Team New Zealand stay sharp as they prepare for the first race in the America’s Cup match on September 7.
The team was well satisfied with the day on the water. Results from the modifications, done in the never-ending search for more speed, will stay under wraps for the time being.
The boat will sail again tomorrow and Monday – again with Luna Rossa.
