Después de una primera jornada sin viento, el segundo día del Campeonato del Mundo de windsurf KIA Cold Hawaii ha sufrido también los caprichos del viento de Klitmoller lo cual provocó la frustración de muchos, pero no del joven de Barcelona, Albert Pijoan, que se ha clasificado para la competición principal.

El nuevo sistema implantado este año obliga a 12 participantes a luchar entre ellos para conseguir entrar en las 6 últimas plazas que quedan para estar dentro de estos 32 mejores windsurfistas del mundo.

Albert Pijoan, de 29 años, ganó la segunda manga de las pruebas clasificatorias y, por tanto, estará entre los 32 mejores que competirán por el título de Campeón del Mundo de windsurf. 'He volado desde Barcelona hasta aquí con mi amigo Jose Piña –fotógrafo español', contaba Albert, 'las condiciones fueron un poco complicadas pero conseguí salir del paso y hacer una ronda buena, y la verdad es que estoy muy contento'.

'No sería justo criticar este nuevo sistema, es el juego, pero la verdad es que es un poco aburrido estar esperando para el anuncio cada 15 minutos. Intentaré dar lo mejor de mi en la competición principal, esperemos que el viento mejore estos días', comentaba Albert Pijoan.

Víctor Fernández, el número dos mundial y uno de los favoritos del campeonato, ha tenido que ser muy paciente, ya que su ronda fue cancelada por segunda vez. 'Las condiciones eran mejores esta mañana, estaba preparado para la competición. Pero con estas condiciones los jueces tienen que elegir, y bueno, estoy de acuerdo con sus decisiones', reconocía Víctor tras el día de Resultados

What an amazing few days in the JP Aloha Classic at Ho'okipa! What an amazing few days at the JP Aloha Classic! With the resumption of the PWA Double Elimination and the World Title decider set to sail the action was electric from the outset. The wind did not seem to want to cooperate and this only helped to add further suspense as fans tuned in from all over the world. The passing showers kept shutting the wind off leaving riders stranded out to sea.

At the JP Aloha Classic, the biggest names in windsurfing came head to head at Ho’okipa today for the Single Elimination At the JP Aloha Classic, the biggest names in windsurfing came head to head at Ho’okipa today for the Single Elimination in what has been dubbed the ‘Clash of the Titans’ with the top PWA and AWT riders pitted against each other in the mast high surf. As the NW swell continued to build through the morning so did the action.

JP Aloha Classic PWA World Cup - Brilliant waves and glorious sunshine
After a drought prior to the JP Aloha Classic beginning, there was a slight concern as to whether the wind would arrive. JP Aloha Classic - Ho'okipa delivers on day 1 + Video
The first day of the JP Aloha Classic started early with the opening ceremony at 9am. The thought provoking Hawaiian blessing asked for wind and waves and almost immediately the breeze started to build ruffling the head high surf.

The time has finally come for the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) to return to the windsurfing Mecca of Maui. The time has finally come for the Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) to return to the windsurfing Mecca of Maui - in association with the American Windsurfing Tour (AWT). From the 24th October to the 6th November the elite of the wave sailing world shall be once again be descending upon the wonderful shores of Maui - for the first time in seven years - as the JP Aloha Classic takes place.

PWA Sylt World Cup - Action packed final day expected
At the PWA Sylt World Cup, with an outside chance of some wind and waves on the horizon, the wave fleet met at 7am. The seventh day of the GP Joule PWA Sylt World Cup proved to be the busiest day of competition thus far. The seventh day of the GP Joule PWA Sylt World Cup proved to be the busiest day of competition thus far as both the freestyle and slalom fleets took to the water. The freezing cold continued today as both the men’s freestyle double elimination - dedicated to André Paskowski - and the fifth elimination of the men’s slalom were completed before the end of a very long day.
