New Auckland Starling Champion, George Gautrey, powers through the swells at his home club of Muritai, in the North Island Championships in which he placed second SW
Muritai' s George Gautrey played a tight points situation to perfection in the Auckland Starling Championships, being sailed off Maretai Sailing Club, 15 miles east of Auckland.
Sixty competitors competed in the regatta, and Gautry was able to finish with s seven point lead over Wakatere's Sam Wallis, who was equal fifth going into the final day of the regatta.
Easterly winds of 15-20 knots tested competitors, with there being little change in strength or direction as competitors were treated to yet another day in Auckland's glorious summer.
Behind Wallis it was a close regatta with eight points separating five boats.
North Island Champion, Arkady Edmunds (Glendowie) second on the overnight points table, dropped back to fourth overall, after the third and final day of acing.
