Top NZ Womens 470 crew, Polly Powrie and Jo Aleh (Team Jolly) give the latest update on what they have done, and what is on their calendar for the next few months Hi Everyone, Just a quick update about what we have been up to the past few months, and what we are doing next, as we are about to fly out to Europe for our first big regattas of the season… We have spent the NZ summer at home, training hard, and competing in the NZ circuit, including the Sail Auckland regatta, where we sailed a great event and managed to beat all the guys (including teams from Sweden, Malaysia and Singapore) and win overall, which was great fun! We then had the NZ Nationals last week, where we sailed a regatta of two parts, finishing strongly to win the last four races, but not quite enough to overtake the new team of Geoff Woolley and Daniel Wilcox who took out the title, with us three points behind in second. After the busy summer we have had, we are looking forward to Europe, and we fly out, heading for Barcelona on Wednesday. From there we will drive to Valencia to pick up our boat and coachboat (hopefully the container has arrived on time…) and then catch a ferry to Palma to get ready for our first World Cup event of the season, the Princess Sofia Regatta, which may be a little more than we have bargained for as it seems to be snowing there at the moment... From there, we head to Marseille to compete in the French Spring Cup – a mixed event, which should be extra fun (We do love to beat the boys). Then we are on to Hyeres to compete in another World Cup event, French Olympic Sailing Week, before we get back on a plane and head back to winter in NZ, and a few months training before the World Champs in July. We have also just launched our new website, still a bit of a work in progress, but up and running nonetheless: www.teamjollyracing.com The images are of us in action at Sail Auckland (courtesy of Gareth Cooke), and a few things we got up to at 470 Camp back in January (wakeboarding and cliff jumping!) Thank you for all the support!! Jo and Polly Special thanks to our supporters and suppliers: SPARC and the New Zealand Academy of Sport, Yachting New Zealand, Donaghys, Kaenon Sunglasses, Harken, Zhik, Mackay Boats and Quantum Toni Tio Sails.
