A look ahead to the Swan European Regatta

Leonardo Ferragamo, Chairman of Nautor’s Swan, along with ClubSwan partners Gazprom and the Yacht Club of Saint-Petersburg (SPBYC), Russia hosted an exclusive reception in London for ClubSwan members on Wednesday 6th February.

Held at the iconic British maritime venue of Trinity House, close to 200 guests were introduced to 200 years of nautical history. The VIP event was an opportunity for Mr Ferragamo to celebrate the successes of winning yachts during high profile regattas. Awarded bespoke Asprey designed trophies the following worldwide owners were congratulated by the elegant audience:

- Swan Maxi Class Trophy - Vladimir Liubomirov, Swan 60, Bronenosec
- Swan Mediterranean Challenge Trophy – Mr Torres, Swan 80, Plis Play
- Swan Transatlantic Challenge Trophy – Gideon Messink, Swan 45, Satori
- Swan 45 Mediterranean Circuit Award - Hendrik Brandis / Christian Nagel, Swan 45, Earlybird
- Swan Mediterranean Circuit Award - Hendrik Brandis / Christian Nagel, Swan 45, Earlybird

David Aisher, Rear Commodore Yachting at the Royal Yacht Squadron welcomed the involvement of Gazprom as title sponsor to the regatta which will also include the Swan 45 World Championships and the inaugural Gazprom Swan 60 World Championships.


Vladimir Liubomirov, Commodore of the Yacht Club of Saint-Petersburg, Russia addressed the ClubSwan members and shared his vision for the partnership with Gazprom and Nautor’s Swan, 'We embarked upon an incredibly ambitious project and 2012 was a wonderful year in which we saw the launch of the partnership along with the build of five new Swan 60s that form the core of the Gazprom Swan 60. Looking now to the future, 2013 is set up to surpass last year with the first World Championship for the Class and we already have a full calendar of racing for 2014 and 2015'.

The reception gave both cruising and racing sailors the opportunity to showcase their work from the past year and to introduce the Swan family to plans for the year ahead.
