A big big sailing week

In the Volvo Ocean Race Puma has hotfooted into the lead ahead of Groupama

At the third World Sailing Cup event of the year, the Trofeo Princesa Sofia in Palma Spain, Australian match racers Olivia Price, Nina Curtis and Lucinda Whitty are leading their half of the group and young Australian Laser sailor Tom Burton is ahead of triple World Champion Tom Slingsby. Interesting times

Krystal Weir led the Laser Radials after day one but was one of 40 boats scored DNF after going to the wrong mark last night so she will be looking forward to the drop.

The 470 Golden Girls Elise Rechichi and Belinda Stowell have had an up and down series with two good results and two not so flash, but they are seventh so that’s good, two places behind the German pairing of Kathrin Kadelbach and Rike Belcher (yes that's Mat's wife) .

Good news from Sail Melbourne – with their World Cup status confirmed today.

Easter is almost upon us and its shaping as an interesting Brisbane to Gladstone race starting on Friday, both in the multihull and monohull divisions, we will be watching both.

Sean Langman's Orma 60 Australia will smoke home if there is a strong south easter in the morning hours as expected while Grant Wharington's Wild Thing should give her own 20 hour record a severe shake.

The traditional Easter Three Peaks race will also provide plenty of variety, with Jessica Watson sure to be a media draw card aboard Bruce and Suzanne Arms 14 metre Big Wave Rider

The Sail Port Stephen's regatta is looming, entries close at 5pm on Tuesday 10th and there are some fascinating battles looming
