3.7 Nationals: Flagged it away for first day in Evans Bay

'The AP flag flies high on the first scheduled day of racing at the 3-7 Class National Championship 2010, in normally placid Wellington.'    Chris Mitchell    Click Here to view large photo
The first day of racing for 3-7 Class National Championship being hosted by the Evans Bay Yacht and Motorboat Club were postponed and eventually cancelled with winds in excess of 35 knots.

Conditions out on the race course were very choppy and difficult. The clouds were scooting across the sky all morning during measurement and after measurement wind at ground level steadily built. Three yachts sailed out from the Club for fun anyway, and they had plenty of it; keeping the rest of the fleet on shore entertained.

The Annual General Meeting was then held and John Elliott was elected the Class President for 2011.

The racing for tomorrow will start at 9am as the race officer cunningly tries to get a few runs on the board before quite a strong forecast tomorrow too.

Everyone has their fingers crossed.
