3.7 National Champs: A tricky second day at Manly

The 3.7 National Champs are underway at Manly Sailing Club, here is the update after the second day of racing.

Derek Scott has won each of the first five races.

Conditions on Day 2 were very tricky, about 10 knots, but there were a lot of light patches and holes for the first two races, plus the sun came out. After lunch the breeze picked up a bit, but was still fairly light with the heavies starting to grumble about the flyweights being able to wire when they couldn't.

Rhys Johnson who has been picking up consecutive second placings had his windward sidestay adjustor come loose, after some precarious wiring to hold the rig in the boat and re-connect the sidestay at the same time he lost the lot, but only missed one race and will be in again tomorrow.

Evergreen (?) sailor John Elliott is third currently in a tight tussle with Mark Overington. John was also re-elected as President of the Class yesterday.

Phil Ash in fourth improves after every race and Andrew Clarke has been right at the front at times.

Leading Lady is Katie de Lange but Naomi Paine is only four points adrift with two races to go.

Lots of photo's today to catch up for yesterday.

More thanks go to Manly for another great day of racing.
