3.7 Grand Prix Series and North Shore Champs

Rotorua Sprints: Kate Ellingham (Wakatere) leading Oliver Hawkley (Manly) and Phil Ash (Manly). Race Committee Rotorua Yacht Club
The 3.7 Class raced the North Shore Champs; the second of their Grand Prix Series events at Takapuna Boating Club over Nov 16/ 17 combined with an A Class regatta.
There was little or no wind both days and only two races were completed, not enough for the North Shore Champs to be awarded. Meanwhile the Grand Prix points for the season have only accumulated two more races.
The Grand Prix series gives points on a high score basis through the season from all races except the national champs. Points are awarded according to fleet size in each race. The first event was the Rotorua Sprints in October run by the Rotorua Yacht Club.
This has had nine 3.7 racing, 12 sprint races completed over two days, but it was also another light wind affair frustrating for the race committees but fine for fishing and sunbathing. New dates in December will be advised for the next regatta if the North Shore Champs can be re-run and following this will be the Clark's Beach Regatta on January 1,2,3. In other news the Class now has an online boat register with over 70 active boats.
The National Championship will be at Manly March 7,8,9 2014. The Class is expanding in the UK and looking forwards to just a little bit more
