2015-16 Round the World GryphonSolo2 - A special message from Team GS2

by Joe Harris - GryphonSolo2 on 3 May 2016
Solo around the world - GryphonSolo2 record attempt GryphonSolo2
To the GS2 faithful fan base: Along with Sail Newport we are organizing a public welcome reception for Joe! We are spreading the word to the entire sailing community in an effort to give Joe a massive welcome back!

We are hoping to make this welcome so big it completely surprises Joe as he doesn’t know we are making these plans, or at least not at the scale that we are! Understandably his day/time of arrival will impact the logistics and turn out but we think Joe will still be overwhelmed by the support, just as he has been with those that have followed his journey online.

The ‘official finish line’ is just off Castle Hill. The current plan, however, will be to have Joe continue to sail up the Bay straight to Fort Adams where he will dock at the Sail Newport Sailing Center for a public welcome and press conference! We will announce the winners of the 'GS2 Time-to-Finish' Contest and pass out the prizes.

We are also making up some fun 'GS2 Karma Bus' t-shirts so if you think you might like one, send us a note so we have some idea of how many to make. Those along with the other GS2 apparel will also be available for purchase online at TeamOne Newport. So mark your calendars and stay tuned here as we’ll be sending updates as he gets closer. As of right now, the weather looks terrific and we estimate Joe to arrive sometime Thursday or Friday.
