After many days of light wind sailing we long for speed and the record holder for today is Annie steering with 24 knots. Team SCA
The complex nature of sailing as a sport is one of many reasons why we love it. There are always challenges to accept as we have seen these last twelve days, both physical and mental.
There are always new things to learn when it comes to sailing, and no matter how much you prepare, it will always bring you new surprises and potential changes to the game plan. When it happens you have to be flexible and quickly adapt to the new situation.
With the lighter winds over the past couple of days the crew of Team SCA has been able to carry out a thorough surveillance of the entire boat and discovered a minor structural issue in the hull. The team has decided to cancel the route to Lisbon and instead head directly to the base in Puerto Calero for a full inspection.
The boat is our home and our racing 'tool' and we are keen that we do not jeopardize the next training period, which will begin in a week's time.
The feeling is really good onboard despite the cancellation, and every one is happy and satisfied with the results so far. We are excited that the wind is back to take us the final miles to Lanzarote and look forward to arriving home.
