18ft Skiffs NSW State Championships - Lumix wins thrilling Race 2

Heat 2 of the NSW 18 footer State Championships on Sydney Harbour was finally won by Lumix, Jono Witty, Aaron Everett, and James Hozack in what will be remembered by Seve Jarvin's Gotta Luv it 7 team as the bullet they never fired.

As Gotta Luv it 7, the clear leader approached the final Shark Island wing mark, the wind completely abandoned the skiff. The chasing pack, still with pressure, pounced, all arriving at the turn mark together.

Gotta Luv it 7 could only watch, as the pack fought for a lane with air, and they had nothing. When the breeze decided to come back it was to Lumix's advantage and went on to take provisional first Place over Mojo Wines, James Dorran, Ricky Bridges, and Mike McKensey and the well sailed Yandoo, John (Woody) Winning, Jim Beck and Andrew (Noddy) Hay who with Mojo Wines were always near the lead throughout.

Appliances on Line decided to protest Lumix due to an alleged infringement at the crowded, last, Shark Island mark rounding.

Interestingly, it was the first race outing for Jono Whitty's new big rig which is quite a big tech development for the 18s going into next year and the JJ Giltinan.....the jury is in session.
