When the names Rabbitohs, Sharks and J.J. Giltinan are mentioned at the same time most of Australian and New Zealand sports minded population immediately think of the NRL (National Rugby League) football code.

From Friday (12 February) this will change for ten days when 18ft Skiffs De’Longhi and Sharks/Coldwell Banker Real Estate do battle in the world’s best 18 Footer championship (JJ Giltian Trophy Championship) on Sydney Harbour.

The two skiffs race under the colours and logos of the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cronulla Sharks (see attached photographs) and are co-sponsored with each of the rugby league club’s sponsors De’Longhi and Coldwell Banker.

The two skiffs begin their battle for the coveted trophy on Saturday when they compete against 31 of the world’s best teams from USA, Great Britain, Sweden and New Zealand, as well as the strong local crews from NSW and Western Australia.

Full details of the championship and an online copy of the championship program are available on www.flying18s.com.
