The 18 Footers League wrapped up the racing season with four time JJ Giltinan Champion Gotta Luv it 7 yesterday - helmed by Scott Babbage. With World Moth champ Josh McKnight filling in on main, and Steve Jarvin doing the bow, the 7 machine and her 'experience heavy crew' quickly settled into her big rig to produce superior boat speed, and with NE course management sorted, ran away with the victory.
Appliances On Line, John Sweeney, Paul Montegue, and Tom Anderson performed well enough to keep the chasers at bay to finish second, with third going the way of Marcus Ashley Jones, Ash Rooklyn, and Geronimo Harrison in the mighty ASKO.
Finishing in ninth place yesterday, the Thurlow Fisher Lawyers crew had a remarkable family sporting occasion 'First', with three generations of Barnabas open boat sailors on board. Trevor has raced with son Trent many times but never raced with Manly Junior sailors and grand children, Zac 11yrs. and Jake Barnabas 9yrs. on a modern 18 foot skiff..... a special record for a special skiff racing family.
