Queensland Redclaw Revolution
Tue, 2 Jul 2013

Significant improvements in farming methods, teamed with increasing demand for a currently limited supply, have resulted in the Queensland Redclaw Industry identifying itself as having 'untapped potential growth'.

Over the past five years, the Queensland Redclaw Industry has invested significantly in research and development, securing funding from the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation and partnering with James Cook University.

The industry has developed a revolutionary farming technique known as 'S3J Farming' that streamlines redclaw production.

'Profitability has been greatly enhanced due to both this simplification and the increase in growth rate achieved by the Selective Breeding Project, another great initiative that has revolutionized the industry,' Redclaw Industry spokesman John Stevenson said.

The industry’s new website – www.queenslandredclaw.org - has been created as a ‘one stop shop’ to provide information, showcase the project results and promote Redclaw farming as having attained professional industry status

'In addition, the upcoming Redclaw Revolution Conference to be held in October in Cairns will be a must for anyone wishing to learn more about the industry and hear first hand about the exciting advances that have been made.'

Mr Stevenson said a highlight of the conference would be presentations from JCU’s globally renowned researchers who will detail their research and development innovations.

'People who want to be involved in a dynamic industry with great growth potential
should take a serious look at Queensland redclaw, get on the website and book a place at the Cairns conference,' Mr Stevenson said.
