Solitaire du Figaro - Skippers ready to set sail on Leg 4
Thu, 20 Jun 2013
In just over 24 hours, Artemis Offshore Academy Rookies Jack Bouttell (Artemis 77), Ed Hill (Artemis 37) and Graduates Sam Goodchild (Shelterbox-Disaster Relief), Henry Bomby (RockFish) and Nick Cherry (Magma Structures) will set sail on the fourth and final leg of La Solitaire du Figaro. Racing from Roscoff to Dieppe, the original 514 mile course has been provisionally shortened due to heavy weather forecast for Friday and Saturday.
For now, the Leg 4 course runs 415 miles from Roscoff to Wolf Rock, then rounding the Needles Fairway buoy on the westen side of the Isle of Wight - giving the guys a nice sail through home waters after the last six months training in France. From the Needles, the fleet will race back to Dieppe and the Antifer channel to finish late afternoon/early evening on Saturday 22nd June.
