Iguana Yachts has developed an amphibious vessel, known as the IGUANA 29’ which is equally at home on the sand, the land and the sea.
According to designers, the inspiration for this project came from the challenge of navigating between the bay of Mont St Michel and the south of Jersey, where the tide can go out for miles and where one has to tackle sandbanks, rocks and currents.
The concept (which is subject to a word-wide patent) is based upon the integration of a caterpillar system within the hull without affecting its aesthetics, performance, or its seaworthiness.
The Iguana is an 8-passenger tender, with the advantage of operating in very shallow water and on land, albeit at a sedate 7 km/h with a pair of retractable treads. It can climb an 11° variation slope, even on unstable ground, can bring passengers from the yacht to the shore to disembark on dry land.
On the water, a wave piercing bow and semi-planing hull allows the Iguana to reach a cruising speeds over 40 knots and remain relatively comfortable even in a choppy sea.
The Iguana Yacht is available in three lines; the colorful, sporty Hype, the upscale Classic with Bose entertainment system, and the ultimate Exclusive model, which features gold plated stairway cleats, rails and table.
