Kirby Inc. yesterday dramatically increased the pressure on LP, ISAF and the ILCA when they asked the US Federal Court in Connecticut to issue a prejudgment remedy against LP.
If this was to be granted as requested LP and its associates would be unable to build Lasers or have anyone else build them for them, while the Courts then could take their time hearing the case.

'It’s not normally like this' – is a phrase regularly heard in sailing circles in reference to ‘unusual weather’, however for once this has worked in the favour of competitors. The Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta in The Hague/Netherlands commenced with autumn like conditions. Temperatures below normal, steady rain and high waves made it tricky for the sailors on six courses. However, the racing went smoothly, without collisions or dropouts. Due to the strong wind of the previous day, there was still a decent swell, although the breeze had already dropped.

With up to four frenetic races, there was plenty of action for the 56 competitors taking part in today's opening round in Cowes. The Marine Accident Investigation Branch and the RYA are reminding everyone driving powerboats and RIBs to wear a kill cord. In its bulletin the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) says that the RIB involved in the tragic accident in Padstow over the May Bank Holiday was fitted with a kill cord but that it was not attached to the driver at the time.

Lucy Macgregor of Great Britain summed up seven straight victories, shining alone undefeated at the top of the scoreboard. A fleet of six boats braved the very blustery conditions to attend the Weston 14 Open. In Saturday’s first race a battle developed between Roger Gilbert, Dan Holman and Julian Pearson at the front of the fleet, these three managed to hold on and avoid swims in the conditions which saw gusts reaching 30knots.

The Bollé sponsored RS 100 circuit arrived at Paington SC for the annual POSH (Paignton Open for Single Handers) as the largest of the fleets, finding that the big breezes forecast were already present. With some heavy gusts coming off the land in the westerly breeze, a few sailors checked their slot gaskets on the way out to the race course.
