The distance that separated between Mike Golding and Jean Le Cam was less than 100 miles Monday morning as the two rivaling sailors continue on converging courses. Golding is still taking small, steady inroads into the lead of Le Cam who still holds the coveted fifth position in the Vendee Globe Race 2012-2013.
Unfortunately for SynerCiel, its lead is now down to just nine miles and Golding’s position should continue to strengthen as they make their way further north and the wind veers progressively.
Golding protected his easterly position with an 85 miles hitch to the NE and this morning. Both are making very similar speeds according to the early morning poll, though Golding will be encouraged to still be making the better VMG [Velocity Made Good].
The duo are some 450 miles SEE of Salvador de Bahia. While they are battling over fifth and sixth places, Dominique Wavre is still a threat 187 miles behind on Mirabaud and Javier Sanso on Acciona 100% Eco Powered is only 53 miles behind the Swiss
