Race one got started in a pleasant 9-11 knots with Oscar flag flying for free pumping. Over 500 sailors from 52 nations opened their quest for World Cup honours, personal best performances and bragging right In the 38 strong Women's Windsurfer fleet, Israel's Noga Geller came out flying with superb starts and speed. Feeling comfortable in the conditions, she snapped up the first two race wins.

Sprint to the sauna – Challenging conditions at Hjertmans OK Sprint
OK Sprint is an open one-day event with tight short racing in provided boats with a barbecue, music and a regatta dinner Strong winds may have shortened the series but the enthusiasm of the sailors towards the sailing and the social side was in no way diminished. The mobile sauna alongside the slip also helped keep spirits high, and the OK Dinghy 60th Anniversary flag flying high on the club mast reminded everyone the OK Dinghy is a great class to be involved with.

RS200 Magic Marine National Circuit and SW Ugly Tour at Exe SC
The day began brightly, with some light wind to be seen in the estuary, and hope that there was yet more out to sea. Race one began in a light onshore wind, with some shifts to keep us on our toes. Maria Stanley/Rob Henderson took the initiative from John Teague/Naomi Pound to lead the fleet around the windward mark, with the race progressing, Edd Whitehead/Millie Alcock pulled into second place and Alistair Norris/Helen Summersgill took fourth.

Where the skin is exposed and a sunscreen is working for you, it is filtering UV rays. Some of those rays always get through. The percentage of the high energy UVB rays (said to cause sunburn) that get through to cells in the skin can be determined by the claimed SPF of the product you are using.

New addition to North Sail for Volvo Ocean 65 racing machines
Their sails have powered eight out of nine Volvo Ocean Race winners since 1989-90, with Steinlager 2. Instead of assembling cloth panels into a particular sail shape, the Volvo Ocean Race sails are composites. This means that 3Di material 'tapes' are laid in a specific arrangement, offering stable structure to the sail where it is needed most.

Strong fleet turns out for RCIYC Commodore Cup Jersey to St Malo Race
With the wind in the northwest and the ebb under way, the beat needed just a single tack to make the Passage Rock buoy With a reach off the line, boats headed quickly for the Pignonet buoy, just to the east of Noirmont Point, before hardening up for the beat to the Passage Rock buoy. Apart from a few wiser heads, the start saw boats bunched at the windward end of the line, those to leeward had the benefit of cleaner air and were well up at the Pignonet.
