Realstone en tête des Extreme Sailing Series après le premier jour

La première journée des Extreme Sailing Series à Singapour a souri à l’équipe suisse sur Realstone. Une victoire, trois deuxièmes places et une régularité à faire pâlir les meilleurs hissent l’équipe en tête du classement provisoire avec 56 points. Realstone est suivi par l’autre équipe helvétique du circuit Alinghi, à égalité de points avec le vainqueur de la Volvo Ocean Race, Franck Cammas, sur Groupama. Les romands laissent dans leur sillage des navigateurs de taille qui font leur entrée dans le circuit cette saison, à l’image des skippers de la Coupe de l’America Ben Ainslie et Dean Barker.

'Les entraînements hivernaux que nous avons fait dans les configurations d’Extreme 40 avec Groupama et SAP Extreme Sailing Team ont payé,' confie le skipper Jérôme Clerc. 'Nous avons beaucoup tourné dans l’équipe pour finalement trouver la configuration optimale. Un de nos équipiers était malade aujourd’hui et a été remplacé par notre préparateur naviguant en Numéro 1, ce qui ne nous a pas empêché de faire une super journée. Bravo à lui ! Arnaud Psarofaghis, à la barre du catamaran, a bien fait avancer le bateau. Nous avons suivi des schémas assez simples, avec des bons départs et des virements réguliers sur le parcours. Et cela a marché ! L’équipe est soudée et Tanguy Leglatin, notre coach, nous a donné les bonnes tactiques sur l’eau. C’est le premier jour de course, les équipes vont se rôder, mais nous restons les outsiders!'

Une position qui réussit à Realstone face aux onze concurrents. Six équipes différentes ont remporté les huit manches courues aujourd’hui avec 4-10 noeuds de vent ; le spectacle s’annonce impressionnant jusqu’à dimanche dans la baie de Singapour.
