PA Consulting and Allen RS Feva Worlds 2016 - Heavy metal day. Gold, Silver or Bronze. It was going to going to be tight at the cut off points. A number of boats went into the day in much lower positions than expected for a variety of reasons. Could they make it up?

After a lovely start to the day the drizzle kicked in but was expected to pass. Launching was delayed as the PRO first reported wind in the race area but no visibility. Then he reported visibility but no wind. Then it all came together and the fleet was all afloat by 2.30. Would three races be possible?

The discard kicks in when four races have been completed… Well no – light winds in the six knot range with a swell running made life hard. The fleet in general misbehaved with multiple recalls and thus only two races were completed after a long time afloat. Even the live Facebook streaming couldn’t be completed with stomachs giving some yips!

So how did it pan out? Freddie Peters/Louis Johnson had a great day again but not quite as great as Jack Lewis/Lucas Marshall. So they are now split on the tie break with the latter taking the lead dropping a third and the former a fifth.

Teams will be taking their position as non-discardable points into the gold and other fleets. Charles Elliott/Ethan Miles complete the current top three. Other notables in the top dozen or so are Pablo Fernandez/Laureano Salcines ESP, Oscar Andersson/Ragnar Alfredsson SWE, Mattia Zinetti/Davide Carbonelli ITA, Eli Leifting/Rose Dickson NZL.

The top of the silver fleet is also very tight with one point separating the top three (we believe that the cut offs are as follows but haven’t seen the official list yet. Ellie Driver/Rachael Cross have it from Caitlin Atkin/Max Sellar and Philline van Cranenburgh/Floor Snelderwaard (NED). Bronze Fleet are led by Patrick/Conor Whelan from Harry Martin/Matt Peckham and Sophie Dennis/Delphine Ala. Maltese Alexander Bartoli/Nick Bonello Gio are close.

The PRO is expecting a tough varied day for the first one of finals racing so staying sharp with eyes out of the boat will be important!

More news tomorrow folks. Stay tuned on the RS Feva Facebook page for frequent video’s and updates! Thanks PA Consulting and Allen and RS Sailing!
