Paralympics London 2012 - Canadian sailors struggle on day 3

On day three of the London 2012 Paralympic Sailing Competition, the weather in Weymouth was actually like summer, but that came with a cost to racing, lighter winds and more variable in direction. After the sailors were postponed on shore for a few hours, the seabreeze began to materialize and the racers were sent out at about 12:10PM.

They got two races in, with winds between five and seven knots initially coming from 240 then a right shift to 210, during the second race.

All three Canadian boats had some struggles on the water today. There were start issues for John McRoberts and Stacie Louttit with an OCS in the first race and a fourth in the second. They had some good speed going in the second race but an altercation at the final mark and a subsequent 360 cost them a better result they are glued to fourth place at the moment.

Bruce Millar, Logan Campbell and Scott Lutes had a pair of 7's on the Sonar course today. They are sitting in ninth overall.

Paul Tingley had a 9-6 in his two races. Paul sits in fifth overall, 10 points out of third place.

At this point in the regatta plenty of things start to happen. For example there seems to be a rash of protests. Everything from incidents on the course between boats, to measurement issues, there seems to be a lot of energy being used in this area. The pressure is high and the stakes even higher!

Race 7 and 8 are on tap for tomorrow and Team Canada are going for Canadian Sailing Team website
