Team Vodafone Sailing - Airlie Beach Race Week 2011 Stu Mackinvern
Leaving for London 2012 in 24 hours, Packing sunscreen (hope we need it), full wet weather gear, lots of winter clothes (definitely will need it – its latitude 50 after all), cleaning memory cards, hard drives, digital recorders, unlocked the iPhone, it’s all happening.

Looks like Telcoinabox Airlie Beach Race Week will blow the doors off, a big fleet, a change in party location, lots and lots of pre-event news.

Audi Hamilton Island Race Week is shaping as a strong regatta; some of the Australian Olympic team will be flying in... and the number of southern boats at Sealink Magnetic Island Race Week is dramatically up. See you at all three!!

Good entries coming in for the 2012 Heaven Can Wait 24 Hour Race, 12 Hour Race and One Lap Dash on the October Long Weekend. Please enter ASAP www.heavencanwait.com.au

Nominations opening now for ISAF World Sailor of the Year – criterion for sailors is 'outstanding achievement in the sport of sailing' during the qualifying period of 1 September 2011 to 31 August 2012. Methinks in the Mens field the results in the upcoming Olympic Finns, Laser, 49ers and 470’s might be relevant there.

Richard Gladwell sent out the first of our 2013 America’s Cup newsletters on the weekend, we will be producing one of those a month, then fortnightly, then weekly as the event draws nigh. By then we will be sending 160,000 newsletters a shot. Overall it will be a big year.

Overnight Richard reveals that Team Korea is still looking for major sponsors 11 months out from the Louis Vuitton series. Gosh that will be tight.

29er Worlds, 505’s, RS Feva, Optimists – action aplenty.

Now back to packing … thankfully Virgin Atlantic only charges US$60 for a second 23kg bag, (some airlines are $20/kg), just as well as the camera gear weighs 30kg.

Have a great week...
